Rocking Stuff!

Here’s a little piece of news that might cheer up the musically inclined spirits of the city: at the recently held Idea Rocks India auditions,two sets of people were given the green signal by the team and Colors channel for the all India round. While Dr Rupak Das with his electronic guitar touch,a Jimi Hendrix rendition and a fantastically put together ‘Neele Neele Ambar Par’ floored the judges,city’s Fire ‘n’ Ice band has been handed over a temporary contract to the next level. “It’s super exciting and we’re all set to play it up in the next round in Mumbai,” shout the members Ondry Paul,Paulus Paul,Chandy,Alfred and Pankaj. The band stumped the judges with their original composition Rahein (which is on youtube too),and rocking versions of Hindi numbers including ‘Raat Kali Ek Khwab,Tum Ho to from Rock On and Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhagi Si’.

As for Dr Das,the judges finally found someone “with music in his blood”. So impressed were they with his performance that they promised to call him over to Mumbai! “Well,I am waiting for the call,” Dr Das has his fingers crossed. In the meantime,there were two things Dr Das found rocking about this contest: “First,there was no upper age limit,and second,thank god they were looking for instrumentalists too!” It sure is rocking stuff!
