The festival of Lohri was celebrated across Mohali on Tuesday with great enthusiasm and traditional fervour, as the city resonated with bonfires, folk songs and a spirit of togetherness. From police stations, bustling markets, malls, government offices, and educational institutions, the festivities added warmth and colour to the winter evening.

In several localities, including the Phase-2 market, residents gathered around bonfires to celebrate the harvest festival, exchanging greetings and sharing traditional treats such as peanuts, rewari, gajak and popcorn. Markets, offices and public spaces witnessed a festive buzz throughout the day.

At the Municipal Corporation (MC) office, a special Lohri celebration was organised where Municipal Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh ceremonially lit the bonfire in the presence of senior officials and staff. “Lohri symbolises mutual brotherhood, prosperity and social harmony.
