The statement of Prerna Puri,who was then the SDM (South),was recorded in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate J S Sidhu on Wednesday. The statements were part of the ongoing case against alleged Pakistan spy Kashif Ali.

Puri deposed before the court that the recovery of case property in the case was made in her presence by the Crime Branch of the Chandigarh Police. The court has set the next hearing for March 28.

The trial of the case started in August last year. As per the police officials,Ali was a resident of Zulfikar colony in Faislabad in Pakistan. He was was arrested on July 2010.

Police had recovered counterfeit PAN card and driving license from his possession during the arrest.

In addition,a number of other documents were recovered from Alis possession related to defence services.
