Mohali Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain on Tuesday declared Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium at Mullanpur and its surrounding areas as a ‘no flying zone’ on April 9, 13, 18 and 21 due to Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 matches at the venue.

The DC issued formal orders under Section 144 of CrPC, stating that any flying object on these days in this area would be completely banned.

Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium at Mullanpur in New Chandigarh is the new home venue of Punjab Kings in IPL. The stadium is named after Yadavindra Singh, who played one Test for India in 1934. He was the son of Maharaja of Patiala Bhupendrasingh Rajendrasingh.

Punjab Kings, who used to play their home matches at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium (PCA) in Mohali earlier, have played one match at the new stadium this season. They beat Delhi Capitals by four wickets in their season opener on March 23 at Mullanpur before travelling for three matches away.

Now, they will play four matches on the trot in Mullanpur — against Sunrisers Hyderabad (April 9), Rajasthan Royals (April 13), Mumbai Indians (April 18), and Gujarat Titans (April 21). The team will play two of their remaining home matches in Dharmsala.
