Hosts SD Public School claimed the overall championship with 20 points on the concluding day of the Fifth Pandit Mohan Lal Memorial Boxing Championship held at SD Public School. Gurunanak Khalsa School,Sector 30,finished second with six points.
SD Public School boxers came up with a dominating performance as six of them claimed title on the final day. In the 40 Kg category,Jaikaran ended the challenge of Gaurav of Government Senior Secondary School,Sector 56,while Vipin won in 44 Kg category after beating Rahul of Government Model School,Sector 12,in the final.
In the 60 Kg category,Durgesh emerged as the winner after defeating Gaurav of GNK-30. Shankar gave the fourth gold to SD School by beating Sohan of SD Public School in the 64 Kg category final.
In the 69 Kg category,Shubham ended the challenge of Abhay of Delhi Public School,Sector 40,while Amandeep took gold in 75 Kg category with a win over Varun of SD Public School.
Earlier in the day,Sparsh of Government Model School,Sector 12,claimed gold in the 36 Kg category while in the 46 kg category,Nikhil of Shishu Niketan School emerged as the winner after defeating Shivkant of Government High School,Sector 11. In the 57 Kg final,Sachin of Government Model School,Sector 35 claimed the title with a victory over Deepak of Government Model School,Sector 20.
Amandeep of SD Public School and Deepak of GMS-20 were declared as the best boxers of the championship while Shivkant of GHS-11 and Sachin of GHS-35 were adjudged as the best looser of the championship. Sparsh and Karanbir were given consolation prizes while Sankar and Varun of SD Public School were adjudged as the best promising boxers of the meet.
