Its always the little things that irk us the most. Missing keys, lost mail, flat tyre, empty tank, etc etc. Instead of fretting and fuming, take these as little reminders to prep your car for the next round. Along with Maruti Driving School,we bring you some handy tips to make that trip smooth and successful. Heres how:
* Ensure that the car is fitted with proper fog lamps. In case, that is not possible, paste yellow coloured cellophane paper on your regular lights. Much of India experiences fog or smog-filled conditions in winter. Bright yellow light from fog lamps allow better visibility
* Do not panic if the windscreen gets foggy. Either roll down the windows a bit,and let in the cold air outside to make the water vapour evaporate,or switch on the air-conditioner/heater and turn the car-blower to the windscreen.
* Ensure that any increase in fuel or oil consumption, unusual noise experienced while driving or any other abnormality are promptly inspected at an authorized workshop
* Your vehicle must be serviced at regular intervals,as recommended by the manufacturer, which should include checking: Engine oil and brake fluid level, condition of brakes, clutch, fan belt, coolant and wiper bottle level, battery water level and terminals, condition of wiper blades, all lights, indicators and horn, proper inflation and condition of tyres; include the spare wheel as well.
* Make sure you carry the reflective warning triangle: In case of a break down, place it 5-10 meters away from your car to warn the oncoming traffic.
* Check your tool kit along with valid documents: driving licence, vehicle registration, insurance and Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate.
