Designer label Bling-Bling re-invents itself as a multi-designer store
Ever since it was launched last year,Bling-Bling has been the best-kept secret of many a fashionista. Launched by Mini Sondhi, her sister Ashita Sondhi and their friend Jessie Singh,Bling-Bling presented an array of Indian and Western wear. Chic tunics, dressy sarees and daily wear with no exaggerated emphasis on bling, thankfully, have been their mainstay apart from trousseau. The refreshing take could be attributed to the designers themselves recent design graduates (Mini has passed out of NIIFT,Mohali) who had their own ideas about style.
The goings been good. Despite being freshers,we have been liked by people, says Ashita. Buoyed by the response and with an aim to give like-minded designers a platform, the Sondhi sisters (Singh has left the venture) have re-invented their label and studio at Manimajra. Bling-Bling,which was re-launched on Thursday,is now a multi-designer store. We wanted a complete fashion experience and, apart from our own collections,we have as many as 10 designers on board from across the country, says Mini.
Each designer has his or her own display area in the studio. There are semi-formal georgette, cotton silk and leheriya kurtis in red, emerald green and gold this season from Kimano and Uniana Couture alongside funky tunics by You Know Me and Eshaan. Unstitched suits with dori and machine embroidery from Eransh and Megha also find a place here. There is also lounge wear by Jessie S from Mumbai, which includes kurtis, kaftans and handkerchief dresses. Designer Kunal Chatterjee brings in jackets, transformable neckline dresses and leggings. We chose designers whose work would match the sensibilities of our existing clientele, informs Ashita. Her sister points out that the prices are pocket-friendly,too,starting at Rs 1,000.
