IMDb’s most anticipated films 2026: Shah Rukh Khan’s King rules as Ramayana and Jana Nayagan follow; Toxic trumps Dhurandhar 2

With the beginning of the year, fans eagerly wait to see their favourite stars bring their A game to the big screen, and this year, several big-budget films featuring A-listers are in the pipeline. But who among them is the most anticipated? The answer to this question lies in the recently released IMDb’s Most Anticipated Indian Movies of 2026 list.
Shah Rukh Khan’s King is the most anticipated film of 2026
IMDb has released a list of the 20 most anticipated Indian films of 2026, which was determined by the actual page views of more than 250 million monthly visitors to IMDb worldwide. Among the top 20 most anticipated Indian films, the list includes 10 Hindi films, five Telugu films, three Tamil films, one Malayalam film, and one Kannada film.
Topping the list is Shah Rukh Khan’s King, which has emerged as the most anticipated film of the year. The film will mark SRK’s return to the big screen after a gap of three years, as he was last seen in the 2023 film Dunki. King also stars his daughter Suhana Khan. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film also stars Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan in pivotal roles.
Ramayana and Jana Nayagan are the 2nd and 3rd most anticipated films
After King, the second spot is taken by Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana Part 1, while the third most anticipated film of the year is Vijay’s swansong Jana Nayagan. Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit, starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, secured the fourth spot on the list, while Yash’s Toxic landed at the fifth spot. Yash has two films featured on the list — Toxic and Ramayana Part 1, in which he will be seen playing the role of Ravana.

Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan at the 6th spot
Other Bollywood stars also made a strong presence on the list, with Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan ranking at the sixth spot, followed by Alia Bhatt’s Alpha at seventh, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 at eighth, and Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty-starrer Border 2 at ninth place. The Tamil film LIK: Love Insurance Kompany, starring Pradeep Ranganathan in the lead role, emerged as the 10th most anticipated film of the year.
Prabhas’ another film Fauzi secured the 11th spot, while Telugu films The Paradise, Peddi, and Dragon ranked at the 12th, 13th, and 14th spots, respectively. Bollywood couple Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor have two films each on the list. Their film Love and War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is the 15th most anticipated film of the year, followed by Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla at the 16th spot. Meanwhile, other Bollywood films that made it to the list include Aneet Padda’s Shakti Shalini at the 18th spot, while Shahid Kapoor’s O’Romeo came last on the list at the 20th spot. Mammootty’s Patriot and Madhavan’s Benz secured the 17th and 19th positions, respectively, among the most anticipated films of the year.
