Covering 7,050 km on a tractor in 19 days,Jaibir Singh Virk and Amit Chaudhary have made it twice to the Limca Book of Records. Their to-and-fro journey from Chandigarh to Kanyakumari covering 14 states is the longest expedition on a tractor.
Commemorating World Peace Day,the duos journey ended here on Saturday. While we had a tight schedule as we had to finish the trip in such a short time, whenever we got the time,we would talk to local people and try and spread the message of peace. The idea was to tell people to live in peace with their surroundings, their families and everybody so that universal peace can be achieved eventually said Amit,a school teacher in Kurukshetra.
Amit had earlier created a Limca record for longest expedition in Himalyan region in 2012 with farmer and advocate Jaibir Singh Virk. Virk,a resident of Tohana said,In view of the recent reports from the border and the uproar over disintegration of states,we decided to dedicate our journey towards peace.
This would be Virks fourth Limca record made on a tractor. In 2008 he set on a tractor from Patiala, setting off to the 18380 ft-high Khardung La Pass on the worlds highest motorable road on a tractor. He earned a third Limca book record in 2012 by covering 273 km in a tractor on reverse gear in 14 hours and 45 minutes. This is the longest such journey ever made non-stop.
