The Municipal Corporation held an enforcement drive in motor market,Sector 48. The civic body lifted 48 cars,11 two-wheelers and four three-wheelers from the area.

It is common to find the market choked with vehicles leaving little space for movement. Some mechanics had also started setting up their shops outside the market.

Meeting to review bank security held

The Chandigarh Police on Tuesday asked the officials of various banks to ensure they were connected with the Police Control Room (PCR),to alert police in case of any robbery.

“It was emphasised that the banks should have alarm system and other security gadgets,” a police spokesman said after the Chandigarh Police officials held a meeting with representatives of all the banks in the city to review their security. The meeting was chaired by SSP,Security,Chandigarh H S Doon and was also attended by Additional Superintendent of Police,Central,Deshraj,Deputy Superintendent of Police,PCR,Roshan Lal and the representatives of 40 banks.

Website for online admission launched

Prof RC Sobti,Vice-Chancellor,Panjab University launched the website for online admission to the B Com course in the affiliated colleges of the university located in Chandigarh,Ludhiana and Hoshiarpur cities at the computer centre on the campus on Tuesday. Prof Shashi K Sharma,Dean Research,Panjab University and Dr Tankeshwar Kumar,Director,Computer Centre,Panjab University were also present on the occasion. The detailed information regarding application form,number of seats in different colleges,eligibility conditions,and reservation policy are availableon the website.
