Himachal Pradesh IPS officers Association on Friday appealed Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal to fill up the two vacant posts of Director General of Police from amongst senior most 1982-batch IPS officers - ID Bhandari and B Kamal Kumar.

IPS officers’ body asks Dhumal to fill DGP posts

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh IPS officers Association on Friday appealed Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal to fill up the two vacant posts of Director General of Police (DGPs) from amongst senior most 1982-batch IPS officers – ID Bhandari and B Kamal Kumar. Both officers are Additional DGPs. The association also raised the issue of granting 25 per cent special allowance to the officers for working in the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on the lines of the CBI.

Bains gets third term in univ EC

Shimla: Waryam Singh Bains,a Himachal Pradesh University employees body leader,was declared elected for the third consecutive term as member of the University’s Executive Council. Bains defeated his nearest rival Mohinder S Parmar with a hue margin. For the university court,Birma Chauhan was declared elected.

Haryana to allow DA fund diversion

Chandigarh: The Haryana Finance Department has decided to allow diversion of funds from salary to DA and vice versa within a scheme and from one scheme to another scheme under the same major head at the level of head of the department. The decision had been taken for smooth functioning of the online budget of the state. However,such diversion of funds would be restricted from non-plan to non-plan and plan to plan schemes.

Board cracks whip on power thieves

Chandigarh: While intensifying its campaign to curb power theft ,the operation,metering and protection and vigilance staff of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam checked 59,780 premises of consumers and detected 12,172 cases of pilferage of power up to July during the current fiscal. The Nigam imposed penalty of Rs 19.16 crore on the erring consumers and recovered Rs 9.49 crore from them.

Hooda seeks Shatabdi to Delhi

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday urged Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi to start a new Shatabdi train between New Delhi and Ludhiana via Rohtak,Jind,Narwana,Jakhal,Dhuri and Nabha. In a demi-official letter addressed to Trivedi,Hooda said,“Ludhiana is a big business centre and there are several big industries and Central government installations. Thousands of persons commute daily to New Delhi in connection with their business and other purposes. There is no other fast train to facilitate the daily passengers,” he said,adding,“There is a genuine need and demand of the people that a new Shatabdi train from New Delhi to Ludhiana should be launched.”
