There’s a noticeable change in the weather and its most apparent when ones out on a shopping spree. While most brands have put out their autumn-winter collections, designers in the city are hard at work putting together their annual bridal collections. This is also a time when lifestyle exhibitions begin to mushroom across the city. Looking to offer more than just bridal-wear this time,is Fashion Yatra. The two-day exposition, presented by city-based entrepreneur Anjali Makin, will roll out today at Hotel Shivalikview.
The idea was to offer a varied line-up of designer labels from the region along with entrepreneurs who specialise in jewellery, antiques and handicrafts, says Makin. The hand-picked selection includes a bouquet of 30 labels that will exhibit their latest collections. Prominent among them is Panchkula-based designer Gunjan Nagpal who is looking to dress the family and not just the bride. I call it the kith and kin collection, quips Nagpal, whose label Aura usually dishes out bridal-wear. I wanted to do something different and also keep embellishments minimal. The bride apart, there are many in the family who require customised clothing, says Nagpal. Her collection is high on colour, especially neon shades.
Those looking to go all out with heavy embroidery,Anarkali suits in particular, should check out designer Karishma Ahujas collection under her label KIMZ. With floor-sweeping suits being her USP,Ahuja feels the style isnt jaded. Its going strong this season too, she says. The expo will also bring in fashion labels such as The Dressing Loft offering western gowns, jewellery and footwear options.
