PU fellow to lead India delegation to Oslo

CHANDIGARH: Prof SK Sharma,Fellow and Professor Emeritus,Panjab University will lead the Indian member body delegation to the 18th plenary meetings of ISO/TC 207 of International Standards Organisation,being held from June 25 to July 1,2011 at Oslo,Norway. This meeting is considered crucial for developing countries as the final decision on the draft standards of carbon foot prints and water foot prints will be taken in this meeting. In the present form,these standards are detrimental to the interest of developing countries because the footprint calculated as per these standards will be as per life cycle assessment methodology. The Indian body under the chairmanship of Prof S K Sharma has been opposing these standards at various stages and have been able to defeat these standards in earlier voting by lobbing with other countries.

Book on ‘total revolution’ released

CHANDIGARH : A book The Betrayal of Total Revolution,authored by Om Prakash Sharma was released here on Tuesday by Justice Daljit Singh Dhaliwal,the Punjab Lokpal. Giving details on the theme of the book,the author pointed out that “though the term ‘total revolution’ was used earlier about 40 years ago by Jai Prakash Narain,he gave no scheme or details to contain the rot. His efforts only ended up as a slogan. His trusted politicians aggravated the already existing mess”. Sharma added that his book is a complete work analysing the current situation in India and remedies to retrieve and redeem the lost social,economical and political sanctity and stability. The author has also written books titled “Dynamic Indianism”,“Political Panic”,“Vishav Dharam Prasad” in Hindi,is also writer of Urdu poetry under the name of ‘Diwan-e-Gafil’. The audience also had renowned urdu poet KL Zakir,in the chair,to talk about the urdu poetry aspect of the author Om Prakash Sharma.
