Act One

Memories of Pink Floyd came rushing back when he first heard the song.

Singer Sukhwinder Singh on his new role as an actor

Memories of Pink Floyd came rushing back when he first heard the song. “It was out of this world, kindling passion and the elements of revolution, just like Floyd’s music,” says singer Sukhwinder Singh. Next thing,er,after much convincing that is,Singh decided to take on the role – that of a lead character in the film. “Debutant director Jagbir Dahiya came to me with the song,Kuchh Kariye, and it instantly reminded me of the exact emotions and expressions in Pink Floyd’s The Wall. After listening to another song,I decided to play the lead character of Dahiya’s film which goes by the same name,Kuchh Kariye,” says Sukhwinder, ready to make the cut. “Well,I am a hero already…there is no need for me to become one. I am always open to good work, especially if it has a hard hitting message,” says Singh who has also sung the songs of the film. Kuchh Kariye releases on April 23.

Words, says Singh, are the greatest weapons. “I’m playing a musician in the film who solves problems without engaging in useless debates and discussion. The character uses his words and music to get across the political facade and reach out to the people with a message,” he adds.

Going out of the studios to engage in fieldwork was an interesting experience for Singh. “I’ve been interacting with the industry’s best and watching films to gauge an actor’s expression,” he says.

Movie roles might come and go but music holds the key to his heart. “It’s my soul,I live, breathe and will die with it,” he signs off.
