Land Rover Discovery Sport.
Land Rover has launched the highly anticipated Discovery Sport in the country with a starting price of Rs. 46.10 lakh, ex-showroom, Mumbai (pre-octroi). Replacement of the Freelander 2, the new Discovery Sport is offered with a host of new equipment inside out and new technologies. The launch of the new Land Rover Discovery Sport marks the starting of the new Discover family in the company’s portfolio.
The SUV is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel motor in two states of tune. The engine produces maximum power of 149PS and peak torque of 400 Nm, while the top-end variant produces 189.6PS and 420 Nm of maximum power and peak torque, respectively. Mated with a 9-speed automatic transmission, the car sends all the power to its four-wheel drive system (4WD). The same gearbox was first introduced in the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque. The Discovery Sport SUV will be offered in four trims – S, SE, HSE and HSE Luxury in both 5-seater and 7-seater configuration.
The Discovery Sport, when compared to the Freelander 2, looks more stylish and attractive, although it shares some of the design elements with its sibling. Based on the familiar steel monocoque platform, the Discovery Sport is lighter and is made of high-strength steel and ultra-high-strength boron. It also uses aluminium in severals parts such as bonnet, front bumpers, roof and tailgate.

Just like the striking exteriors, the interiors too are more upmarket and loaded with new technologies. One of the most noticeable changes inside the cabin is the 5+2 seat configuration. Apart from this, the SUV offers a roomier cabin with ample amount of legroom and knee-room. It also features a huge luggage space.
