Venkaiah Naidu to lead high-power committee: HM on Jat Reservation

New Delhi, Feb 21 (ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday reacted over the Jat Reservation issue by saying that a high-power committee has been formed which would be led by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu. He also said that the committee has been asked to submit a comprehensive report to find the solution of this problem as soon as possible. He also appealed to the people of Haryana to help in maintaining peace and order in the state.

Taking potshots at Home Minister Rajnath Singh's statement that JNU incident was supported by Hafiz Saeed, he said that Home Minister relies on a 'fake' Twitter handle. He further said that they were not perturbed by some unwarranted elements imposing the label of 'anti-national' on them. Karat added that they are prepared to face everything and are not worried about being labelled anti-national or something.

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury on Sunday questioned Home Minister Rajnath Singh's claim that event about Afzal Guru in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus had the support of LeT chief Hafiz Saeed. The CPI (M) politburo member further asserted that if the Home Minister managed to bring up any evidence of 'anti-national' or terrorist activity in the varsity, then the CPI (M) will support necessary action in national interest. Amid a massive faceoff over the JNU controversy, Singh earlier alleged that 'anti-national' protests in the JNU campus had the backing of the LeT chief Hafiz Saeed.

New Delhi, Feb 12 (ANI): Speaking about an event at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that whatever happened at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) was inappropriate. He said strict action will be taken against the anti-national elements. He added that if anyone raises anti-India slogans and tries to raise question on nation's unity and integrity, they would not be spared. Union Minister for Human Resource and Development (HRD) Smriti Irani also echoed similar sentiments, saying that academic institutions have the responsibility of following principles and thereby it should be kept in mind that institutions are respected. Pak stands exposed over Headley's claim: Rajnath Singh

Trivandrum, Feb 11 (ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday asserted that the revelations made by David Coleman Headley before a Mumbai special court has exposed Pakistan, adding that New Delhi would still prefer cordial relations with Islamabad. Deposing from an undisclosed location in the US, Headley had so far told the special court that the ISI was helping different terror outfits in Pakistan and was providing financial, military and moral support. Headley, who had conducted recce of the places in Mumbai which were attacked by 10 LeT terrorists on November 26, 2008, also revealed that the outfit had initially planned to attack a conference of Indian defence scientists in Taj Mahal Hotel. He also said he had also conducted a recce of the famous Siddhivinayak Temple and Naval Air Station on directions of LeT commanders.

Chhattisgarh Home Minister critically injured in road accident

Ambikapur (Chhattisgarh), Feb 11 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Home Minister Ram Sevak Paikra was severely injured in a road accident after addressing a rally in Ambikapur district. The accident took place at Ghat Pendari area after his car collided with a pick-up van. The police officials and ambulance immediately reached the accident site and took him to a hospital at Bhatgaon. The doctors said the Home Minister has received injuries on head and back and his condition is critical but stable.

Udaipur (Rajasthan), Jan 26 (ANI): The Rajasthan Government on Tuesday rubbished reports of a clean chit being given to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra in the Sky Light Hospitality case and said that the investigation in this regard was still on. Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria informed that he had personally talked to case investigating officer Ram Avatar, adding that there is no report in this regard. Kataria further said that the investigating has not yet finished and therefore it would be inappropriate to comment on the matter.
