Gopalkrishna Gandhi

Gopalkrishna Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, served as the Governor of West Bengal between 2004 and 2009. He is also a prolific columnist and was an IAS officer for a long time. His stints came in Sri Lanka as India's High Commissioner and in Norway and Iceland as Ambassador. He has translated Vikram Seth's 'A Suitable Boy' into Hindi and also wrote a novel on Sri Lanka's Tamil plantation workers. Gandhi has also been the Secretary to the Vice President from 1985 to 1987, Joint Secretary to President from 1987 to 1992 and Secretary to President in 1997.
