Manoj Tiwari cries foul, says did not call Aamir 'traitor'

January 09, 2016 5:04 am

New Delhi, Jan 09 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari on Saturday asserted that he did not call Bollywood actor Aamir Khan a 'traitor', despite what had been published in a few national dailies, and added that efforts were being made to tarnish his image. He also asserted that the newspapers should apologise and should also mention the name of the source who gave them this 'false news'. Earlier, two leading national dailies reported that the BJP MP had called Aamir Khan a 'traitor' at a Parliamentary Standing Committee meeting on Friday in which members sought an explanation from the Tourism Secretary for replacing actor Khan with Amitabh Bachchan as the brand ambassador of the 'Incredible India' campaign.

Aamir Khan to be replaced by Big B as Incredible India brand ambassador

January 08, 2016 4:54 pm

New Delhi, Jan 8 (ANI): Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has been replaced by megastar Amitabh Bachchan as the brand ambassador of Incredible India campaign run by the Tourism Ministry. The 'PK' star had yesterday said it was an honour for him to be the brand ambassador for the Incredible India campaign for the past 10 years and added that he would always be there for the service of the nation. The Bollywood star's comment came a day after a controversy erupted after a section of the media reported that the Central Government had removed him as the brand ambassador of the Incredible India campaign under the Tourism Ministry. At an award function in November 2015, Aamir Khan opined on the 'growing intolerance' in India issue saying that, "India was going through a state of "growing despondency", where his wife Kiran Rao "fears for her child, she fears for the atmosphere around us, she feels scared to open the newspapers every day." Amitabh Bachchan, on the other hand, is already the brand ambassador of Gujarat Tourism.

Tyagi said that Amitabh Bachhan is a great actor and he doesn’t have any objection on this name (for Incredible India campaign). He added that Aamir Khan was doing his job properly but the current government could not accept his comments.
