I&B ministry notice to Imagine TV for showing violence

Information and Broadcasting Ministry has issued a show cause notice to Imagine TV which airs the serial ‘Armaano ka balidan – Arakshan’,asking it to adhere to programme and advertising codes while showing scenes of violence as they could create social discord.

An inter-ministerial committee which looks into any complaints about programmes,has held that the scenes of self-immolation being shown by the programme may create angst and anxiety and may lead to social disharmony. The committee,therefore,decided to issue an advisory to the channel (Imagine TV ) on which the programme is aired.

The channel submitted its reply mentioning that the programme is a fictional love story which is set against the backdrop of the reservation system that was introduced in the 90s.

The name of the programme has also been changed to ‘Armano ka Balidan’.
