Ittefaq starring Sonakshi Sinha, Sidharth Malhotra and Akshaye Khanna has hit the theaters and is off to a slow start at the box-office. Directed by Abhay Chopra, Ittefaq is a remake of the 1969 film of the same name. The film has not followed the excessive promotion strategy and is yet to be seen how it is going to affect the film's overall box-office collections. The film has earned Rs 4.05 crore at the box-office on its opening day. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Ittefaq started slow, but picked up towards evening. Sat + Sun biz growth crucial. Fri ₹ 4.05 cr. India biz." The film is a whodunit thriller so the makers wanted to keep the suspense under wraps. Trade Analyst Girish Johar said, "As an industry, we would really want fans to be mature and let everyone enjoy the experience of watching a film for the first time. I really hope that they pay heed to the request of all the actors who have advised their fans not to give spoilers. It will be beneficial for the industry overall, not just the production houses." #Ittefaq started slow, but picked up towards evening. Sat + Sun biz growth crucial. Fri ₹ 4.05 cr. India biz. — taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) November 4, 2017 Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta gave three stars to Ittefaq. She wrote, "A good murder mystery leads you by the hand but doesn’t advertise its wares, takes care to keep it taut, and delivers a satisfactory payoff. Despite a few niggles, this brand new Ittefaq, which takes broad pointers from the 1969 original of the same name, manages to pull it off."
