BJP state president Sudhir Mungantiwar and Shiv Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe on Wednesday said voters were fed up of corruption in Congress-NCP alliance and the increasing inflation. They said Ajit Pawars suppression would help Sena-BJP garner votes for their candidate Bhimrao Tapkir against NCP candidate Harshada Wanjale in Khadakwasla byelection.
The leaders said if required, they would take help of local MNS leaders, who are not contesting the election, and unsatisfied factions in NCP will lead to defeat of Harshada Wanjale.
Mungantiwar and Gorhe were speaking at a joint press conference in Pune,Sena-BJPs first after their candidate was declared. Republican Party Of India leader M D Shewale,MLAs Vinod Tawade,Mahadev Babar,Madhuri Misal were also present on the occasion.
Mungantiwar said NCP leadership was aware that they wouldnt be able to win the seat on their own and hence are trying to bank on sympathy vote. NCP denied candidature to its own partymen and wooed Harshada Wanjale. But this is not going to help. Wise voters of Khadakwasla constituency will not vote for a party (NCP) against which late Wanjale stood up and fought, Gorhe said.
She said NCP leaders are showering affection on Harsgada only because they do not have any strong candidate from their Khadakwasla constituency. The constituency comes under Baramati Lok Sabha constituency and NCP desperately wants to win the election. Voters would show their anger regarding Maval firing incident by voting against the NCP candidate in the bypolls, said Mungantiwar. The alliance leaders said the MNS decision not to contest the bypolls would benefit them.
In the last elections, the voters of this constituency expressd their anti-NCP feeling by voting for MNS candidate. Absence of MNS would definitely translate into Tapkir getting these votes. Local MNS workers should help us to beat the suppressive NCP leadership, said Mungantiwar.
