FMS bins its entrance test, students to be selected on CAT scores

CAT is conducted by Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and is scheduled to take place in November.

Students hoping to secure a seat at Delhi University’s Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) will no longer have to write a separate entrance test. Common Admission Test (CAT) scores will be accepted for admission to its MBA and doctoral programmes, the university administration said.

CAT is conducted by Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and is scheduled to take place in November.

“The faculty has started online registration for MBA, MBA (Executive), MBA Executive (Health Care Administration) and the PhD programmes for the academic session 2015-16,” a notification issued by the DU registrar said.

While registration began on October 8, the last date for online registration is November 10.

According to the FMS website, applicants who have not taken CAT 2014 will not be eligible. “Candidates will be shortlisted based on the CAT score for the above programmes. The IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme. The eligibility criteria for CAT is as set by IIMs,” the website states.

For the MBA programme, students in final year of their Bachelor course are eligible to apply.

However, those seeking admission to the other two MBA courses  are expected to have at least five years of experience after getting  their bachelor’s degree.
