Yellow Boots and a Roomful of DVDs

The wedding reception for Kashyap and Koechlin’s Bollywood friends in Mumbai,however,will take place only in June,once the couple have wrapped up their commitments. “We both return to Mumbai on Monday and get back to work,” says Kashyap.

The couple started dating after Kashyap finished shooting for Dev.D,one of the biggest hits of 2009,that also marked 23-year-old Koechlin’s debut as an actress. “He was rude and crude on the sets,he would throw cigarette butts around and expect people to clean up after him. When I first visited his home,it was a mess with dozens of pizza boxes stacked up against the walls and books and DVDs all over the house,without any order,” recounts Koechlin. The filmmaker,who was earlier married to his college sweetheart Aarti Bajaj,says that Koechlin refused to put up with his untidy habits.

Despite differences in attitude,what binds them together,says 39-year-old Kashyap,is their love for books and movies. “We’re both geeks at heart,” he adds. Their rented pad in Versova in Mumbai was proof of that – with one whole room full of wall-high racks stacked with film DVDs and books. After their wedding,the couple is set to move into a new apartment in Versova village.

“Apart from being a director,I’m now a full-time producer as well,with four productions releasing this year – Shaitan,Michael,That Girl In Yellow Boots and Gangs of Wasseypur. I realise that apart from promoting new talent,I need to make some money too. After all,for the first time in my life and 19 years in Mumbai,I have to pay EMIs,” grins Kashyap.
