Ludhiana: 12-yr-old missing for 3 days found dead

The family members first tried to find the boy on their own and when they couldn’t locate him, they lodged the missing complaint on July 6.

A 12-year-old boy, who was missing from the past three days, was found dead in Bhamian Khurd of Ludhiana late on Friday.

The body of the victim, identified as Ranbir Singh, was fished out from a pond.

According to the police, he went missing on July 5 and his parents lodged a missing complaint the next day.

SI Jaspal Singh, SHO of Jamalpur police station said that according to the victim’s parents, their son had gone out of the house saying that he wanted to get wet in the rain but he never returned. The family members first tried to find the boy on their own and when they couldn’t locate him, they lodged the missing complaint on July 6.

On Friday evening, when the level of water in the pond decreased, the villagers noticed a body and raised an alarm. The victim was later identified as Ranbir.

SI Jaspal Singh said that after postmortem, the body was handed over to the family and on the basis of the statement of victim’s father Dharampal, an inquest proceeding under section 174 of CrPC was initiated.
