Ashwani Lohani
An Indian Railway Service officer of 1980 batch, Ashwani Lohani will succeed Rohit Nandan as new Air India chief whose three-year term ended last year and who was on a one-year extension till the government was able to find the new chief.
Nandan’s one-year extension ended Thursday night and the government was likely to make the announcement. Sources say the government has given a month’s extension to Nandan, who will be posted as a secretary during this time.

Lohani will take over next month. A qualified mechanical engineer, Lohani is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
He is the founder member of the Indian Steam Railway Society and member of CII National Council on Tourism.
