Less than a month later, Karimnagar is set to become the first district in Telangana to be free of coronavirus, with the last two of its 19 positive cases ready for discharge. The district has seen no deaths attributed to coronavirus.

In his plea through advocate Pragya Baghel, Arnab Goswami has sought protection from any coercive action on the basis of the FIRs.

“Canards are being spread that Bengal is not conducting enough tests,” the chief minister said. However, against the 14,000 test kits sought by the state, the Centre had sent only 2,500, Mamata Banerjee said.

On April 10, when the state had 14 districts unaffected by COVID-19, the state health department announced that a high-powered committee has decided to take at least 100 samples from zero-case districts to be doubly sure that these areas are indeed free of novel coronavirus infection.
