Christmas 2025: Mongolian Jingle Bells goes viral
A few people would link Mongolia with Christmas music. Yet, that surprising connection is precisely what has helped Ummet Ozcan’s reworked version of Jingle Bells go viral, drawing millions of views and reactions from around the world.
Blending Mongolian throat singing with techno beats and a Christmas song written more than 150 years ago, Ozcan’s version is likely the first of its kind. Instead of following the full set of familiar lyrics about “dashing through the snow,” the reinvented track follows its core lines, repeatedly chanting, “Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to ride in a Mongolian open sleigh,” performed in Mongolia vocal style.
Ozcan, a Dutch DJ of Turkish heritage, first teased the idea by sharing a short throat-singing video on social media, which quickly went viral. Following the overwhelming response, he released a full track along with a music video featuring dancers in traditional Mongolian clothing moving to the energetic beats.
Within days of its release, the song had amassed millions of views. Ozcan also made Mongolian Jingle Bells available on Spotify.

The video prompted a wave of reactions, with a user commenting, “ok now that’s peak holiday vibes, never thought Mongolian Jingle Bells could slap this hard.” Another user wrote, “That’s an absolute banger.”
“Sounds like something you would have randomly downloaded on Limewire in early 2000s,” a third user reacted.
In 2014, a Mongolian folk group called The Altai Band released its own version of the classic. Unlike Ozcan’s electronic remix, their rendition features traditional instruments, group vocals, and lyrics sung in their own language, all performed in traditional attire.
