Truck mows down three students in Dahod

Three students from the Dahod Polytechnic college died after being hit by a truck outside their hostel on Thursday night.

Three students from the Dahod Polytechnic college died after being hit by a truck outside their hostel on Thursday night. Dahod rural police said the accident occurred when the trio,along with two other college friends · all second semester students · was going back to hostel around 9.15pm after having dinner at nearby Chapri village. “They were returning on a bus. After getting off the bus they moved towards their hostel when a truck lost its control while coming down a steep slope and hit them,killing three on the spot. The truck then crashed on to a nearby hillock,” said Sub-Inspector K G Chaudhary.

The police added that when the accident occurred,most of the students were outside their hostels and witnessed the mishap. “The agitated students damaged the bus with stones,while the injured were rushed to a hospital,” said Chaudhary,adding that the driver had escaped but was arrested on Friday evening. The deceased were identified as Vishal Tailor,Keyur Patel (both from Navsari) and Jaimin Mehta of Halol,while Harshad Rathwa from Godhra and Sanket Patel sustained injuries.
