In the early hours of Wednesday, a massive fire erupted in a residential building housing workers in Mangaf city, located in southern Kuwait, resulting in the tragic death of at least 49 people, including around 40 Indian nationals, and leaving over 50 others injured.
The building, which reportedly accommodated around 160 occupants, was home to people from the southern Indian states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu as well as from northern India.
The fire originated in a kitchen on one of the lower floors and quickly spread throughout the entire building. Tragically, some individuals lost their lives while attempting to escape the flames by jumping from the building, while others perished due to burns and smoke inhalation. According to reports, many of the injured have been transported to Adan, Mubarak, and Jaber hospitals for treatment.

Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, responsible for overseeing the interior and defense ministries, visited the site and conveyed his profound concern over the incident.

Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Adarsh Swaika also paid a visit to the Al-Adan hospital, where the injured have been admitted for treatment.
