A 14-year-old was killed while four others were wounded after a 23-year-old man stabbed passersby in the southern Austrian city of Villach on Saturday.

Police have arrested the suspect, a Syrian national with legal residency in Austria.

A 42-year old man who works for a food delivery company, witnessed the incident from his car. He drove toward the suspect and helped to prevent things from getting worse, police spokesperson Rainer Dionisio told Austria’s public broadcaster ORF.

Authorities are investigating whether the suspect acted alone and continue to search for any potential accomplices.
