UP man tries to harass his ex-lover, forcibly kisses her; she bites off his tongue

A man from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, had a portion of his tongue severed after his ex-lover allegedly bit him during an encounter where he allegedly molested and forcibly kissed her.

The 35-year-old man, identified as Champi, previously had an extramarital affair with the woman, a report in NDTV said. However, the woman recently got engaged to a man chosen by her parents and had since distanced herself from Champi. But Champi frequently attempted to meet her, according to the police.

The incident unfolded on Monday afternoon when the woman visited a local pond. Seeing her alone, Champi followed her, where he allegedly molested her, the report said.

The woman fought back and refused his advances, but Champi persisted, forcing himself upon her and beginning to kiss her. The woman allegedly bit his tongue severely, causing a portion of it to be severed.

Villagers, alerted by Champi’s cries, gathered at the scene and informed his family. He was rushed to the Community Health Center for initial treatment before being referred to a hospital in Kanpur. Deputy Commissioner of Police Dinesh Tripathi confirmed the incident, stating that a case had been registered against the man and that further legal action was being taken.

In an unrelated incident, a man from Mumbai was arrested for harassing and cyber-stalking his ex-wife in 2021. The Indian Express reported that they had met in college, fallen in love, and got married after five years of dating. However, the woman later accused him of fighting over small issues and divorced him in March 2020. The man, out of vengeance, began launching attacks on his ex-wife’s character through social media, following which she complained to the police.
