A crow from a village in Maharashtra’s Palghar is stirring up attention on social media with its ability to speak like humans. Mangalya Munke discovered a 15-day-old injured crow under a tree and brought it home. Over time, the crow became part of the Munke family, with the children feeding and playing with it.
According to a report in India Today, the bird got comfortable and began perching on people’s shoulders and hopping around the house. Eventually, it started speaking, saying words like “Aai” (mother) and “Baba” (father) in Marathi, and even phrases like “What are you doing?” and “Why did you come home?”
As videos of the talking crow went viral, people from nearby villages rushed to visit the family and the bird. Some even attempted to speak to the crow, hoping it would respond. The Munke family, however, says the crow isn’t just talkative but also asks, “What is your work?” when strangers approach their home and repeats family members’ names when they call out to someone, the report stated.
Despite spending its days flying with other crows, the bird always returns home before sunset, staying close to the family. “It talks to us now. It calls us by name. We didn’t teach it, it just picked it up,” Munke’s wife Tanju Munke told India Today.
The video is widely circulated across all social media platforms. Sharing the video, an Instagram handle @thetrendingindian wrote, “The heartwarming story highlights the intelligence of crows and how deep human-animal connections can lead to extraordinary outcomes.”
