Speeding car crashes into Pune subway from bridge; rescue video goes viral

A speeding car fell from the Garware bridge in Pune’s Deccan area, but no one was injured.

A speeding car smashed through a divider on the Garware bridge and plunged into the subway in Pune’s Deccan area early on Tuesday morning. No one was injured in the incident.

A video of police using a crane to lift the damaged car was widely circulated online.

The car was coming from Jangli Maharaj Road towards Fergusson College Road when it hit a divider on the bridge and plunged into the subway near the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj statue around 3 am, according to the police.

Manoj Kalgude from Pashan, a suburb of Pune, and two friends were in the car returning after dinner. As the impact of the accident was strong enough to deploy the airbags, neither sustained major injuries, according to the police.

The video has garnered around 400,000 likes and comments. An Instagram user said, “What is happening in Pune? This needs very strict legal action.” A second user wrote, “Why do i have a feeling that he was trying to drift that curve?” A third user commented, “Punekars watching a lot of rohit shetty these days.”
