A video showing Congolese miners emerging out of a collapsed mine and onlookers cheering out loud has surfaced online. The gold mine had collapsed in Nyango, Congo, and the nine miners had a miraculous escape.

The video shared by the news agency Reuters on Twitter shows two men digging out the muddy slope. As one of the men removes the sand, a miner is seen coming out. While sand slides down, the rescue worker swiftly removes more sand and one and the other miners are seen emerging out. Onlookers are heard cheering out loud as the miners escape from grave tragedy.

According to Reuters, nine Congolese miners escaped from the mine, which collapsed after heavy rain. “A video showing nine Congolese miners unexpectedly popping out of a collapsed gold mine and tumbling down a steep slope as onlookers cry out in joy has gone viral in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a rare happy ending to an all-too-common story,” read the caption of the clip.

Since being shared on Tuesday, the clip has amassed more than 1.1 lakh views on Twitter. Netizens heaved a sigh of relief over the miner’s escape. A user commented, “REBORN!” Another user wrote, “Life finds a way …” A third user commented, “Good news in an unhappy day. #Nashville.”
