The Central Mason Fire & Emergency Medical Service department in Washington, US, was recently asked to assist a parachutist who got stuck on a tree near the Mason County Recreational Area.

In a press release, the department said the parachutist, who has not been identified, was fortunate enough not to have hit the high-capacity Bonneville Powerlines. He might otherwise have been electrocuted in the incident, which took place on April 1.

“His landing location was in a swamp/drainage area that would not support the use of our ladder truck, so crews quickly deployed a 35’ ground ladder for rescue. The parachutist was not injured, he just needed assistance getting untangled and down from the tree. Had the parachutist been unable to climb down the ladder after assistance, crews were equipped and prepared to perform a more complex technical rescue,” the emergency service explained in the press note.

In June 2021, the Tulsa Fire Department in Oklahoma, also in the US, was called after a young man got stuck on a tree after he climbed it to rescue his cat, which was also stuck there. The fire department was able to rescue both the man and his cat.
