Alleged shooters identified: Australian authorities have identified the alleged shooters in the Bondi Beach attack as Naveed Akram, 24, a man from the city’s south-west, and his 50-year-old father, Sajid Akram. Sajid Akram died at the scene, while Naveed Akram, who was wounded, remains under police guard in the hospital. The duo had visited the Philippines in November, with the reasons for the trip under investigation.
Gun Laws tightened : Albanese announced Australia’s plans to strengthen its already tough gun laws with new measures that will restrict who gets a license. Following an emergency national cabinet meeting, Albanese said Australia would move quickly to strengthen gun laws. “We have agreed to accelerate the digitisation of gun records and ensure licences are not issued in perpetuity,” he said.
