Pakistani television host Mathira Mohammad is the latest to face the troubling trend of leaked explicit videos targeting public figures. This marks the third such scandal in a month, beginning with influencer Minahil Malik, followed by Imsha Rehman, whose videos spread widely online. Rehman deactivated her social media accounts citing the “overwhelming backlash” she faced from the society after her videos went viral.

Now, Mohammad is at the centre of controversy, as explicit videos allegedly featuring her are circulating online, though their authenticity remains unverified. She has vehemently refuted the videos, accusing detractors of attempting to tarnish her reputation with fabricated content.

Who is Mathira Mohammad?

A Pakistani-Zimbabwean model and actress, Mohammad has acted in a few films like Young Malang. Political turmoil in Zimbabwe forced her to relocate to Pakistan. She made her music video debut in Pakistan with Nachdi Kamal and Jadugar, made an appearance on the cover of a fashion magazine, and hosted the show Love Indicator on Pakistan’s Vibe TV in 2011.

Similar controversies

Imsha Rehman, a TikTok star, faced similar allegations recently when a private video allegedly featuring her went viral. The backlash was so intense that Rehman deactivated her social media accounts, stating it was “too much to handle.”

Before Rehman, influencer Minahil Malik was caught in a similar scandal. Malik claimed that a video purportedly showing her was “fake” and filed a complaint with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Like Rehman, she also stepped away from social media to cope with the fallout.
