‘Folklore-coded’: Taylor Swift doppelganger’s anniversary post sends Swifties into a frenzy

With 3.7 million views, Laura Cadman’s viral post on X prompted a user to comment, “You look like Taylor Swift in this light” quoting Swift’s lyrics from “Clara Bow” from The Tortured Poet’s Department album.

Laura Cadman is a massive Swiftie herself.

August is here, and what better way to kick off the month than by singing along to Taylor Swift’s August from her Folklore album? For Swifties, it’s a cherished tradition. But this year, something extra special happened. Laura Cadman, celebrating her 10th wedding anniversary, posted on X, and the post went viral—not just because she’s a huge Taylor Swift fan, but because her resemblance to Swift is uncanny.

With her hair, nose, and facial features so strikingly similar, it’s easy to mistake her for the actual pop star. “10 years together, 2 years married, 4 white dresses and too many pictures to sum up more than a third of our life together. I love you so much Jack, happy anniversary,” she wrote on X.

In the photos, Cadman is dressed in a white dress while her husband is wearing shirts and even a suit. In one of the photos, the couple can be seen holding their baby. Stunned by her resemblance to Swift, some even wondered if AI had been used in the photos.

Reacting to the post, one user commented with Swift’s famous Clara Bow lyrics – “You look like Taylor Swift in this light”. A second X user commented, “Taylor Swift happy in an alternate universe.” Another user wrote, “Legit thought this was Taylor Swift”. A fourth user said, “The way we thought this was some Taylor Swift AI”.

Cadman grew up a Swiftie, and loves singing and cats. Though it was her recent post that brought her fame, she has been popular among Swifties for a long time.

In an interview with The Tub, Cadman mentioned that her experience has been mixed. She remembers how nearly 50 people went to take pictures with her when she went to attend Taylor’s 1989 tour in 2015. As a doppelganger of the Bad Blood singer, she has had to endure her fair share of negative comments too.

Cadman also mentioned how people have told her, “You’re never going to meet Taylor” and even “You’re ugly”. During her interview with The Tub, she acknowledged the support she received from followers whenever she faced backlash from the media.

“But it’s cool because my followers defend me nine times out of 10. I also wish people would find me pretty/ attractive because I’m fine,” she had said.
