Meghan Markle has returned to Instagram after five years, starting the new year with a fresh account. On January 1, the Duchess of Sussex shared a video of herself running on a beach. As reported by ABC News, the video was shot by her husband, Prince Harry, on a public beach close to their home in Montecito, California, where they reside with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.

In her debut post on the new Instagram account, the Duchess of Sussex looked stunning in an all-white outfit, writing “2025” in the sand. She then briefly glances at the camera before quickly running out of the frame.

The Instagram video marks Markle’s first post on the platform in five years. Prior to her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, she had an Instagram account with three million followers and also ran a popular lifestyle blog called The Tig. She deactivated her Instagram account and her blog weeks before her wedding. “It was a big adjustment — a huge adjustment to go from that kind of autonomy to a different life,” she told The Cut about shutting down her social media accounts.

The Duchess of Sussex created her new Instagram account amid the rumours about her separation with her husband. Addressing the rumours, Prince Harry said, “Apparently we’ve bought or moved houses 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?”
