In a heartbreaking moment captured on video, a retired circus elephant in Russia was seen mourning the loss of her longtime companion. Jenny and Magda had performed side by side for over two decades, forming an unbreakable bond. But when Jenny collapsed and passed away this week, Magda refused to leave her side, overwhelmed with grief.

For hours, she wouldn’t let veterinarians approach, staying close and wrapping herself around Jenny. At first, she gently nudged her fallen friend, as if trying to wake her. “In the first minutes after the tragedy, she lightly pushed her friend and tried to lift her, and then began to hug her,” reported Baza.

The emotional video, which has already garnered over four million views on X, shows Magda touching Jenny with her trunk and foot, desperately trying to get a response. She then slowly runs her trunk along Jenny’s body in what appears to be a final, painful goodbye.
