Baahubali The Epic Worldwide Box Office Collection Day 1: SS Rajamouli’s re-release earns Rs 14 cr globally, tops Shahid Kapoor’s Deva, Akshay Kumar’s Kesari 2

As per reports, USA and North America early previews have got the film $410,000 (approximately Rs 3.5 crores). Early estimates suggest that the Hindi version contributed around Rs 1.25–1.50 crore to the overall total. The film recorded an impressive 63.63% overall occupancy in Telugu on its opening day. It began with a solid 53.02% in morning shows, rose to 59.36% in the afternoon, reached 65.18% in the evening, and peaked at 76.97% by night. Other language versions also performed well, with Tamil recording 28.32%, 22.18%  in Malayalam, Hindi 12.04%, and Kannada 11.49% occupancy.

The film, which is technically a re-release, has in fact performed far better than several recent big-budget releases featuring major stars. For instance, Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan’s Kesari Chapter 2 could earn only Rs 7.75 crore on Day 1. Another Dharma Productions film starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, managed just Rs 9.25 crore. Even Janhvi Kapoor’s another recent release Param Sundari could collect only Rs 7.25 crore on its opening day. It also outperformed Shahid Kapoor’s Deva, which earned merely half of Baahubali: The Epic’s opening figure at Rs 5.5 crore. Furthermore, it has outshone its immediate competitor, Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thamma, which continues to decline at the box office and managed to earn only Rs 3 crore on its second Friday.

At a runtime of 225 minutes, Baahubali: The Epic serves as a remastered and condensed retelling of Rajamouli’s two-part blockbuster. It offers fans a nostalgic return to the kingdom of Mahishmati, featuring beloved stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Nassar, and the ever-popular Sathyaraj as Kattappa. Given the strong opening figures, positive audience response, and an open weekend with no major competing releases, Baahubali: The Epic could well be on its way to rewriting box office history once again,  reaffirming Rajamouli’s position as India’s master storyteller.
