Even since Pakistani singer Ali Sethi stole hearts with ‘Pasoori’ last year, Indian fans have not been able to keep calm when videos of his songs hit the internet. Now, the 38-year-old singer has taken the internet by storm with his soulful rendition of Lata Mangeshkar’s Ye Samaa Samaa Hai Pyar Ka. As he crooned, celebrities gathered at the second annual South Asian Excellence pre-Oscars bash had a delightful experience.
In the video shared on his official Instagram handle, Sethi is heard singing the song from the movie Jab Jab Phool Khile. He interacts with Pallavi Sharda, an Australian actress of Indian descent and asks her to come forward. She is seen making moves to Sethi’s soulful singing.
“an ekdum-heart-filling night for desi oscar nominees in LAso happy that we are here as our true selves, no longer typecast and overflowing every metric joined here by @noahgeorgeson @djrekha and the ravishing @pallavisharda — aapki kya hee baat hai,” Sethi wrote on Instagram.
Sethi’s soothing music won hearts online and garnered praise from actors Aparshakti Khurana and Sukriti Kakar. A user commented, “How gooodly good is this!!!” Another user wrote, “Yeh to typical “once upon a time” wala moment hai.”
The pre-Oscars party was organised by actor Priyanka Chopra at Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood. The party honouring nominees from the South Asian community at the Oscars was attended by education activist Malala Yousafzai, Telugu superstar Junior NTR and actress Preity Zinta among others.
