Top cleanest cities in India: Indore featured for the 7th time — see the full list

Cleanest Indian Cities 2024-25: Indore has distinguished itself by winning the overall cleanest city award for seven consecutive years and is featured in this edition as well, along with Surat and Navi Mumbai, in the 'Million Plus Cities (> 10 Lakh population)' category.

Cleanest Indian Cities in 2024-25: Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, launched a revamped format for the 9th edition of Swachh Survekshan (SS), the world’s largest urban cleanliness survey.

To make the list more inclusive and ensure fair evaluation, the Super Swachh League has been introduced to highlight cities that excel in cleanliness, divided into five categories based on their population.

Based on a city’s cleanliness, waste management, and sanitation initiatives, the ranking takes into account citizen feedback, on-site inspections, certifications, and effective waste management practices.

Indore has distinguished itself by winning the overall cleanest city award for seven consecutive years and is featured in this edition as well, along with Surat and Navi Mumbai, in the ‘Million Plus Cities (> 10 Lakh population)’ category.

While several Indian cities make strides and set high standards for hygiene and eco-friendly practices, the ones ranked in the top three in at least two of the three years from 2021 to 2023 have qualified for the Super Swachh League.

Notably, 12 Indian cities have been selected and featured; below are the top cleanest cities in India, as of 2024.

Exclusive | Bike skidded, rider died on spot before bus ran over it in Kurnool tragedy

A bus in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh caught fire after running over a motorcycle that had skidded on a wet highway. The bike's driver, B Siva Shankar, died on the spot and the pillion rider reported that the bus dragged the bike for 300 meters before stopping. Police are investigating the incident using CCTV footage.
