Wireless earphones are becoming an essential part of our lives, and everyone now has a pair slipped inside their denim pockets or handbags. The only questions most people now seem to be asking are how much they spend on these products and what features they need, given their use cases. The Oppo Enco Buds3 Pro+ is another option for Indian users who struggle to listen to their favourite songs in a noisy metro.

The Oppo Enco Buds3 Pro+ comes in a very interesting, sleek oval case that is perfect to slip into the small pocket of your jeans, which is witnessing a rebirth thanks to TWS devices. Inside, the earbuds have a regular design that is comfortable to wear for long hours. However, the silicone tips that came fitted were small for me and I had to find the extra pairs in the box for a better fit and seal.

When I first used the earbuds with the iPhone, I could not feel the noise-cancelling. That is when I downloaded the HeyMelody app to control the noise-cancelling. The active noise cancelling here is mild. So you will hear people speaking in the room, but not the whirr of the fan. How effective this will be in the Delhi Metro, where everyone seems to take a ride to pick up a fight these days, needs to be seen.

However, when you switch on the music, you don’t hear anything else, so most users will not even realise. As Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan tries to mesmerise you with Saason ki Maala, you are transported to a 1990s stage with the bellow of the harmonium trying its best to fill the room. In fact, the Oppo Enco Buds3 Pro+ made me think how the harmonium is such a forgotten instrument in our scheme of things, despite the role it has played in the musical culture of the subcontinent. But then Khan and his aides take you to their own world with earthy vocals that have few parallels.

The device gets 32dB of ANC and also claims to provide 43 hours of audio playback. (Image: The Indian Express/ Nandagopal Rajan) The device gets 32dB of ANC and also claims to provide 43 hours of audio playback. (Image: The Indian Express/ Nandagopal Rajan)

The Buds3 Pro+ did a good job with the 1990s live version of the classic, and when the playlist ticked over to a much modernised remix version by Sozz, it was up to the task, though the composition itself has more overpowering music than the actual vocals.

The Buds3 Pro+ offers rich playback, versatile enough to amp up the bass when needed and give you access to details that often get suppressed on earphones that don’t have that range. The drill mix version of Baharon Phool Barsao has so many of these new (often unnecessary) additions that these earphones recreated well.

For those who like more subtle stuff like Vanessa Fernandez’s Here but I’m gone, the Oppo Enco Buds3 Pro+ falls back on the basics, doing a super job of mixing the vocals and instruments well without either drowning out the other. The Buds3 Pro+ comes across as a balanced pair without any major flourishes, but offering a near-perfect playback every time. However, the customisation opportunity is limited on the app with just a bass boost and clear vocals option, along with the original sound option. That’s all that most users need.

The battery life is good and can last well over a week with regular use. Call quality is good with the device banking on a dual-mic set-up with some AI noise-cancelling.

At Rs 2,099, the Oppo Enco Buds3 Pro+ offers reliable noise cancellation, balanced sound, and strong battery life. It is a solid option for those seeking dependable wireless earphones with essential features.
