Popular action camera-maker GoPro announced two new GoPro cameras on Wednesday. The two new devices––the Hero 13 Black and Hero––come with a slew of innovations and new features aimed at those who want to ace adventure photography. The top-of-the-line Hero13 Black, priced at Rs 44,900, comes with the HB-Series Lenses. The Hero, GoPro’s smallest and simplest camera, is priced at Rs 23,990. Both cameras come with some unique features that have been built upon GoPro patented technologies.
Talking about the latest launches, GoPro founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman said that the two new devices are inspired by and built for the GoPro community. “HERO13 Black features four new interchangeable lens mods that HERO13 automatically detects and adjusts its settings for, magnetic latch mounting, GPS, and a more powerful battery that provides longer runtimes and improved thermal performance. And then there’s HERO, the smallest, lightest 4K GoPro ever with a screen that will appeal to new and experienced users with its rugged, ultralight design and impressive 4K image quality,” Woodman said.
The Hero13 Black can be opted as a standalone camera at Rs 44,990 as well as the Hero13 Black Creator Edition, priced at Rs 64,990, and comes with Volta Power Grip, Media Mod, Light Mod. Users can also pick the activity-optimised Hero13 Black Accessory Bundle priced at Rs 49,990. This accessory bundle includes Hero13 Black, floating hand grip, an extra Enduro battery, an extra Curved Adhesive Mount, and a 64GB SD card along with a case.
When it comes to features, Hero13 Black comes with 13X Burst Slo-Mo that captures up to 400 per second at 720p, 120fps at 5.3K, and 360 fps at 900p video. The redesigned Enduro battery offers 10 per cent more capacity and better efficiency in all weather conditions. Besides, the Snap and Go Magnetic Latch allows for three mounting options. Also, WiFi 6 allows 40 per cent faster content transfer.
The Hero13 Black supports professional-level Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) HDR video with a wider colour gamut. The action camera also offers customisable audio tuning which enhances sound quality. It has GPS and performance stickers that can track key data. Custom present and improved QuikCapture are among the additional features.
According to the makers, customers of Hero13 Black can further improve their photography with Hero Black (HB)-Series lenses. The Ultra Wide Lens Mod is priced at Rs 9,990, the Macro Lens Mod at Rs 12,990, the ND Filter 4-Pack is priced at Rs 6,990. GoPro is yet to announce the price of the Anamorphic Lens Mod. Each of these lenses are automatically detected by Hero13 Black to offer optimal settings based on the lens type and environment. It needs to be noted that these lenses are only compatible with GoPro-patented HyperSmooth stabilisation and are waterproof and scratch resistant.
The Hero is the smallest and most affordable 4K camera with a screen from GoPro. The device weighs a meagre 86g and comes with built-in mounting fingers. It is 35 per cent smaller and 46 per cent lighter than the Hero 13 Black, and is waterproof up to 16 ft (5m). The tiny Hero is designed for recording footage in snow, water or even mud. It comes with an intuitive touch screen and one-button control, and features 4K Ultra HD, 1080p video, 12MP photos, and 2x slo-mo capabilities ensuring splendid images. The camera supports videos in 16:9 aspect ratio and its Enduro battery offers up to 100 minutes of continuous recording on a single charge.
The Hero13 Black, the Hero13 Black Creator Edition, and the Hero13 Accessory Bundle are available for pre-order starting today via Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, and Reliance Digital. Pre-order shipping and retail on-shelf availability will begin from 6:30 PM on September 10. Pre-orders for the smallest Hero will start from September 16. Meanwhile, the Ultra Wide Lens Mod, Macro Lens Mod and the ND Filter 4-Pack are sold separately from HERO13 Black and will be available to order starting September 10. Anamorphic Lens Mod will be available in 2025.
