Meta AI, the ChatGPT-like AI chatbot available on Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp is getting a bunch of new features, making it more useful and easier.
At the Meta Connect 2024, the company announced that the popular AI chatbot has more than 400 million users worldwide and is “on track to become the most-used AI assistant in the world by the end of the year.”
Powered by the newly unveiled Lllama 3.2 model, Meta AI on Messenger, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram now has a new voice mode that allows users to engage with the AI chatbot in a natural and more conversational manner. The company is also adding AI voices of popular celebrities like Awkwafina, Dame Judi Dench, John Cena, Keegan Michael Key and Kristen Bell.
The company is also adding photo editing capabilities to Meta AI, which means you send the chatbot a photo you clicked and ask it to add, remove or change things like changing outfits or replacing the background with something else.
When uploading a Story on Instagram, Meta AI can now look at the photo’s background and generate a new fun background. For content creators, Meta introduced an AI-powered translation tool that can automatically translate the audio of Reels even if you speak in a different language and even sync the lips to match. It will be available in the coming days.
As for Meta AI’s Imagine features, the company says users can imagine themselves as whatever they want and share those images with friends. Meta AI will also be able to suggest captions for your Instagram and Facebook Stories. DMs on Instagram and Messenger are also getting AI-generated themes, so you can choose the one you like.
