From AI-assisted photo editing tools like the Magic Editor to Bard AI, the two-hour-long event was mostly filled with demonstrations of AI-supercharged tools by Google. Another noteworthy new AI tool that the company announced at I/O 2023 was Google Help Me Write.
As the name suggests, Google’s Help Me Write is a new feature coming to products like Gmail and Docs to help users with writing. From writing a simple email to your employer to sending a formal invitation, Google Help Me Write is said to aid all sorts of users to save time and resources, all with the help of generative AI technology.
This is similar to the smart prompts that Google had offered on services like Gmail for a while but this time, it’s even more capable. Once a user inputs a prompt, AI uses that sample, analyzes it, and creates an elaborated or summarised version. It also allows users to further customize the output with options like Formalize, elaborate, shorten, and even there is an option called “I am feeling lucky” in the refine text menu.
If you have access to the Help Me Write feature, it can be accessed via Gmail and Docs.
According to Google, Help Me Write has been available for select users since March 2023 and is said to roll out for more users in the coming days.
As of now, Google Help Me Write is available for select users. Post the official launch, everyone should be able to use it. Similarly, there are also possibilities that the service could be limited to users with Google Workspace users.
