MI vs GT play-off scenario: Five-time champions Mumbai Indians take on defending champions Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede stadium on Friday. As we are getting into the final stages of the tournament the battle for the top four is getting intense.
Mumbai Indians are on 12 points after they thrashed the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last game. A win today will help them to leapfrog over Rajasthan Royals and take them back to the third place in the table. A defeat will keep them in fourth place however, they may be pulled back into the middle muddle after Saturday’s fixtures as Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings both play tomorrow a win for either of them may push MI out of the top four.
Rohit’s side is also struggling with a Net Run Rate of -0.255 their last game has improved the rate a lot however, still a lot of work needs to be done.
Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, are sitting pretty at the top of the table and a win today takes them a step closer to the playoffs. However, unlike MI’s top four aspirations, the Titans would like to cement their place in the top two. If they win all their remaining three games they will reach 22 points which will assure them the top spot as no other team can reach those many points. Even if they lose today they can still reach 20 points which will also make sure they finish top of the table. Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants who shared a point earlier in the tournament can go to 19 points.
MI’s remaining fixtures
Mumbai Indians will take on Gujarat Titans on Friday followed by Lucknow Super Giants away from home and Sunrisers Hyderabad back in Wankhede.
GT’s remaining fixtures

GT’s away record
The Titans juggernaut is yet to be defeated away from home this season. Hardik Pandya’s men have shown supremacy in all conditions and in all departments. The Wankhede conditions would be ideal for their batters as well.
