(FILE photo)Former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher has issued an apology to forward Mohamed Salah for his comments over the latter’s rant, following the club’s 3-3 draw against Leeds United. Carragher said that he loved Salah as a player, but urged him to improve his behaviour.
Carragher had called Salah’s comments after the Premier League match ‘a disgrace.’ He added that it wasn’t an emotional outburst from the 33-year-old and stated that when he made a rare appearance in the mixed zone, he and his agent staged an event to cause maximum damage.
“Would you like to apologise to Mo, and just say sorry for any disrespect? It just come from passion, you’re a fan, go on, just say it down the lens,” Carragher’s colleague Micah Richards asked him during the CBS Sports’ Champions League show.
“Mo, I apologise, I’ve upset you. I love you as the Liverpool player, but you just need to behave yourself off the pitch, “ Carragher said in response.

Liverpool scraped out a 1-0 win in their Champions League clash against Inter Milan at San Siro, with Dominik Szoboszlai scoring the winning penalty late in the game. Manager Arne Slot was pleased with the win, admitting that it was all he had asked from his players after a tough week and brutal schedule.
Salah was not picked in the 19-man squad to travel for this fixture, even though he did train with the squad before their departure on Monday.
“It was all I could ask for. The fourth game in 10 days, I’m not sure you see that a lot in football, with only 14 outfield players available with Premier League or Champions League experience, after the blow we had conceding the 3-3 in Leeds, then to go into this stadium against such a strong Inter team – we couldn’t have asked for more,” he said after the win.
Liverpool will take on Brighton & Hove Albion in their next Premier League match on Saturday.
