Cristiano Ronaldo suffers knee injury, leaves pitch in tears before winning first trophy with Al-Nassr

Ronaldo scored twice as nine-man Al-Nassr won 2-1 against Al-Hilal to win the Arab Club Champions Cup 2023.

Cristiano Ronaldo was left in tears while being taken off due to an injury suffered during the Arab Club Champions Cup 2023 final between Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal.

Ronaldo, who scored a brace to help Al-Nassr beat Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s Al Hilal, suffered an injury and was stretchered off during the second half of extra time and had to be carried off on a golf cart.

The Portuguese superstar had to be stretchered off the field due to a knee injury.

“Extremely proud to helped the team winning this important trophy for the 1st time,” Cristiano wrote on his social media accounts.

“Thank you to everyone in the club that was involved in this great achievement and to my familly and friends for always being by my side! Fantastic support by our fans! This also belongs to you!”

The 38-year-old received widespread support online from fans. Man United forward Alejandro Garnacho also sent a powerful message to Ronaldo after Al Nassr won the Arab Cup.

Garnacho, 19, wrote: ‘inspiration’ along with a trophy emoji.

During the match Cristiano Ronaldo has also surpassed Gerd Muller’s record for most recorded headed goals in the game’s history. He has now scored 145 headed goals, one more than the late legend Gerd Muller.

Ronaldo has joined Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr in a move that has surprised many.

Some have questioned his motives, suggesting that he is only interested in the money. Others have praised his ambition, saying that he is determined to win trophies at all costs.

Ronaldo himself has said that he joined Al Nassr because he is “hungry for success” and “wants to win trophies.”

He has also said that he is impressed with Al Nassr’s ambitions and believes that the club can become a major force in world football.
